Vaginal rejuvenation, also known as vaginoplasty or vaginal tightening, is a procedure that is becoming widely known and quickly growing in popularity. Vaginal rejuvenation enjoys a very high satisfaction rate among clients (more than 96%) because it often results in greater comfort, enhanced sexual pleasure and an increase in self-confidence. A woman may choose to have a vaginoplasty to correct a feeling of looseness during sexual intercourse or because of difficulty keeping tampons in place.

A major factor contributing to loss of vaginal muscle tone is childbirth.  During childbirth the vaginal tissues are stretched and the muscles on the vaginal floor are torn or cut but oftentimes an episiotomy repair does not address the underlying muscles, resulting in looseness at the vaginal opening and in the vaginal canal. A vaginoplasty is an out-patient procedure that is generally done under local anesthesia with light sedation and takes about an hour. During the consultation Dr. Vitenas will listen to your concerns and perform a vaginal exam to evaluate the vaginal muscle tone. At that time he will explain the procedure in detail and answer any questions you may have. You will need someone to drive you home after the procedure and you will need to take a few days to recover.

During the surgery Dr. Vitenas will remove excess tissue of the vaginal walls and vaginal opening and repair the underlying muscle layer of the vagina. You will have dissolving stitches that will come out on their own in 1-2 weeks and sexual activity is restricted for 6 weeks following the procedure.
