New Year, New Skin

So you make a New Year’s resolution every year and by Jan 21st it’s all downhill from there.  Why?  Some would say they simply haven’t the time, some would say their resolution was really not that important to them in the first place, some would say their goals were far too unrealistic and some on the other hand would admit they are flat out lazy.  Whew!  Now we all know there is some serious truth in all of those “excuses”.   With information, technology and resources at out fingertips why do we settle with the excuses?  May I make one assumption…people these days are commitment-phobic!  No seriously, it’s true.  We have everything we need to accomplish most anything we set our minds to but then you hear the phrase “that takes commitment”.  Ugh.  When it comes to skin care and overall skin health it Does take commitment but in fact a commitment worth investing.  Did you know that your skin is your largest organ?  We think of organs as completely internal however without the skin our other organs could not survive.  Skin acts as a waterproof, insulating covering, protecting the body against extremes of temperature, sunlight, and harmful outside influences. It also manufactures vitamin D for converting calcium into healthy bones. Skin additionally is a huge sensor packed with nerves for keeping the brain in touch with the outside world. All the while, our skin allows us free movement.  Your skin is hands down an extremely important organ that does require commitment and attentive care.  If you have read this far, you are at least somewhat interested so by now you have asked yourself “What might this commitment look like?”.  Well it’s not a one-step fix all.  Overall skin health comes from a healthy diet, routine exercise, and a beneficial skin care regimen.  There are many websites you can search for understanding a healthy diet.  Check out your local gym and consult with a personal trainer for a realistic routine exercise plan and while you’re there ask about healthy diet recommendations in conjunction with your new workout.  And as for choosing a beneficial skin care regimen, that can be difficult and overwhelming as we are inundated with a million different choices.  Many people purchase a variety of skin care lines and after little or no improvement and many wasted dollars, they turn to a trained professional to point them in the right direction.  Save time and money and set up a complimentary skin consultation at Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery to determine the appropriate skin care for your individual skin needs.  I recommend you re-think the initial excuses …you don’t have time NOT to take care of your skin, we’ve proven the essential need to commit to your overall skin health, speak with a trained professional to determine the realistic goals and expectations, and as for being lazy well, get off your backside and commit! With only a few days and counting to ring in the New Year, choose to extinguish the excuses and commit to achieving the overall health and wellness of your largest organ…Your Skin!
