Liposuction and Lipodissolve Are For Men Too

Liposuction and Lipodissolve

For decades liposuction has been a top request nationwide. But until recently it was not something that a lot of men would seek out for themselves, perhaps because of the stigma attached to it.

In reality, liposuction — and now also Lipodissolve — offers the same incredible benefits to men as to women. There’s nothing about liposuction that makes it an exclusively female procedure. Men are finally starting to wise up to the life-changing effects of liposuction surgery.

Why Men Choose Liposuction

Many of the reasons men turn to liposuction to solve their body contour issues are the same as those women list. This fat-removing procedure is often sought by men who wish to:

  • Appear younger
  • Boost the look of their fitness efforts
  • Look slimmer by removing targeted fat
  • Remain a viable candidate in the job market
  • Take control of their bodies

Because of its versatility, liposuction can be many different things to different patients. For some, it can provide an improved contour of the hips and abdomen. For others, liposuction can eliminate unwanted fat from the arms and chest. The most common requests for male patients of liposuction include sculpting of the love handles, correction of fatty tissue around the male breasts, and trimming of the abdominal area. Liposuction has so many applications that it attracts patients with many different concerns.

What to Expect from Male Liposuction

Like the benefits, the liposuction procedure itself is very similar for male and female patients. There are only slight differences that can make the male experience unique, given the subtleties that differentiate the male physique from the female one. Surgically, the same liposuction techniques can be applied to male patients, something that will be designed on an individual basis according to your desired results and physical characteristics. Every procedure is tailored to provide optimal results.

For both men and women, liposuction is a straightforward procedure that will permanently remove fat cells in small amounts in order to improve body contour. The tumescent liposuction procedure is performed under local anesthesia. It begins with an injection of diluted anesthesia into the treatment areas, numbing the areas and shrinking the blood vessels. Small incisions are also placed along the treatment area. Using a thin tube, or cannula, the surgeon is able to go into the incisions and suction out unwanted fat cells. Once the desired contour has been achieved, the incisions are sutured closed. It is very common for multiple areas to be treated during the same liposuction procedure.

What to Expect From Lipodissolve

Lipodissolve is a new minimally invasive, outpatient procedure that uses a series of small injections to dissolve and remove unwanted fat to sculpt the body. It is performed in an office setting over about 15 to 30 minutes.

Men’s Trouble Spots

While liposuction and Lipodissolve can be applied to the abdomen, hips, outer thighs, knees, arms, neck and other areas, certain areas of the male physique have common trouble spots.

  • Love handles (hips)
  • Lower abdomen
  • Neck
  • Male breasts (gynecomastia)

These are all often targeted to create a slimmer, firmer look because these areas are notorious for trapping unwanted fat cells that diet and exercise won’t affect. Looking as toned and fit as you want to look can be difficult with these inconvenient fatty deposits. Liposuction eliminates these fat cells safely and effectively.

Not For Weight Loss

It is important to note that liposuction isn’t the solution for weight loss. In patients who are overweight or obese, liposuction is not helpful. It is best to lose as much of the weight as possible and get within 30 percent of your ideal weight for your height and build. Liposuction treatments are more successful on patients in this range.

Possible Risks

Every surgery can pose risks to its patients and liposuction is no different. When it comes to male patient risks, they are no higher than those faced by female patients. There is a low rate of complications among all liposuction patients of either sex. These may include infection, poor healing and excessive bleeding, among others.

Lipodissolve is well tolerated with little discomfort or pain. Some patients experience side effects temporarily, especially when they have an empty stomach. There is no downtime. Results will begin to show after two weeks and continue to improve over the next six months until the full effect of the treatment shows. Four treatments are usually recommended.
