Q - What is Botox?
Botox Cosmetic is a non-surgical injectable procedure which can temporarily eliminate frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and lipstick lines, return the corners of the mouth to an upturned position, create a more youthful-looking upper lip, and eliminate an “orange-peel” appearance of the chin.

Q - How does Botox work?
Botox works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for expression lines on the face.

Q - Who is a candidate for Botox?
Men and women who are seeking a more relaxed and refreshed look may be good candidates for Botox.

Q - Where is the Botox procedure performed?
The Botox procedure is performed in Dr. Vitenas’ office.

Q - Is anesthesia used for the Botox procedure?
Local numbing is necessary only when treating the area around the mouth because sensitivity is greater there. Other areas do not require anesthesia.

Q - How is the Botox procedure performed?
The Botox is injected directly into specific muscles using only the tiniest needles available.

Q - How long is the procedure time for Botox?
The Botox injection takes less than thirty minutes to perform.

Q - Is the Botox injection a painful procedure?
There is little pain associated with the Botox injection. Patients may experience a brief sensation similar to a pin prick.

Q - What is the recovery like after the Botox injection?
As with any injectable procedure, patients may experience some minor bruising at the injection site. Otherwise, there is no real recovery associated with the Botox procedures and patients can immediately return to their normal activities. While it will take about two weeks for the maximum effect to be achieved, patients will begin to see the effects within five to seven days after treatment.

Q - When will I be able to return to work after my Botox injection?
Though some minor bruising may occur at the injection site, patients are able to immediately return to work and other normal activities after receiving a Botox treatment.

Q - What are the risks or possible complications of Botox?
There are few risks associated with Botox. On occasion, some people will develop a headache after the treatment. However, it is more common for people who have frequent headaches to report fewer of them after receiving Botox.

Q - Is the cost of the Botox injection covered by insurance?
While patients should consult with their own insurance carrier, Botox injections are generally not covered by insurance when performed for cosmetic reasons alone. Some amount of coverage may be provided when used for medical purposes, such as for the treatment of migraines.

Q - Is it possible to finance my Botox procedure?
There are financing options available for plastic surgery procedures, including Botox. For further information, visit the following website: http://www.cosmeticfeeplan.com/.

Q - How long do the results of Botox last?
Botox results last an average of three months. The results can often be prolonged when combined with facial fillers.
