Botox Hyperhidrosis Houston |
While Botox® Cosmetic is perhaps best known as an anti-aging treatment for forehead wrinkles and frown lines, it does have other uses. When injected into the underarm area, Botox® can also be used to treat excessive underarm sweating, or hyperhidrosis. With the climate in Houston and it's neighboring areas of Clear Lake, Friendswood, and Pearland, sweating can be an unfortunate side effect. Hyperhidrosis is a distressing and embarrassing condition for many individuals, but fortunately Botox® can help.
Dr. Vitenas performs Botox® injections for excessive sweating in his office in Houston, Texas. The procedure takes about thirty minutes to complete and does not require anesthesia. During the procedure, very tiny needles are used to inject small doses of Botox® into the areas that produce excessive sweat. Botox® then stops the nerve signals that stimulate the sweat glands, thus reducing sweating.
There is no downtime or recovery associated with Botox® injections for the treatment of excessive sweating. Minor bruising may occur at the injection sites but most patients are able to immediately resume their normal activities. Results generally last six months to a year. Botox® is FDA-approved for the use of excessive sweating.
