Dr. Vitenas performs the dermabrasion procedure at the Day Surgery Center, an outpatient facility at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital that is adjacent to his office.

Dermabrasion is performed with general anesthesia

Dermabrasion takes about thirty minutes to an hour to perform.

Patients may experience some aching, burning or tingling after dermabrasion, though discomfort can be managed with medication.

Patients can expect a recovery time of about two weeks after dermabrasion. Redness and swelling may occur, and the swelling will start to fade within a few days to a week. Patients may have some difficulty talking an eating at first.

Patients are usually able to return to work after two weeks.
