Q - What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure which can permanently reduce unwanted hair on all areas of the body. Commonly treated areas include the face, neck, chest, underarms, back, bikini line, and legs.

Q - Who is a candidate for laser hair removal?
Men and women who are interested in reducing unwanted hair of the face and/or body may be good candidates for laser hair removal. The system used at the Vitenas Skin Institute is effective and safe for all skin types, including tanned skin.

Q - Where is the laser hair removal procedure performed?
The laser hair removal procedure is performed in Dr. Vitenas’ office.

Q - Is anesthesia used for laser hair removal?
Anesthesia is not required. The laser system is equipped with  a cooling tip that continually cools and soothes the skin. Patients may feel a brief sensation with each pulse of the laser.

Q - How is laser hair removal performed?
A laser device is passed over the treatment area, allowing the laser energy to be absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. This instantly disables hairs that are in the active growth stage. Patients often require an average of six to eight sessions.

Q - How long is the procedure time for laser hair removal?
A single laser hair removal session takes about thirty minutes to complete. An average of six to eight sessions are often required.

Q - Is laser hair removal a painful procedure ?
With each pulse of the laser, patients may feel a brief sensation. Anesthesia is not necessary, and the special cooling tip on the laser device continually cools and soothes the skin.

Q - What is the recovery like after laser hair removal?
There is virtually no downtime associated with laser hair removal as patients may return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. Within about one to two weeks, the individual hairs will fall out. Unlike older laser hair removal systems, patients are able to shave as usual after treatment and in between sessions, eliminating the inconvenience of growing out hair

Q - When will I be able to return to work after my laser hair removal treatment?
Patients can return to work immediately after the laser hair removal treatment.

Q - What are the risks or possible complications of laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a safe treatment with few risks.

Q - Is it possible to finance my laser hair removal procedure?
There are financing options available for plastic surgery procedures, including laser hair removal. For further information, visit the following website: http://www.cosmeticfeeplan.com/.

Q - Are the results of laser hair removal permanent?
While the results of laser hair removal are permanent, a single treatment will not permanently remove 100% of hairs in a treated area. An average of six to eight sessions are needed in order to target all hairs.
