Laser hair removal is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure able to permanently reduce unwanted hair. All areas of the body may be treated, including sensitive areas like the face, chest, and bikini line. Other areas that are commonly treated include the back, neck, legs, and underarms. Unlike other laser hair removal techniques, the system used at Vitenas Skin Institute is both effective and safe for all skin types, including tanned skin. It has also proven to be an excellent treatment for Pseudofolliculitis Barbae, a persistent inflammation caused by shaving and often referred to as “razor bumps”.
Good candidates for laser hair removal include men and women who are looking to reduce unwanted hair of the face and/or body. The procedure is performed in the office and typically takes less than thirty minutes to complete. An average of six to eight sessions may be needed. Unlike older systems, patients do not need to grow the hair out prior to treatment and they are able to shave between treatments and even on the day of treatment, thus eliminating the inconvenience associated with growing out hair.
No anesthesia is required as patients will feel just a brief sensation with each pulse of the laser. The laser device also includes a cooling tip which continually soothes the skin and allows for a more comfortable, safer result. Patients are able to return to work and other normal activities immediately after the laser hair removal process. The individual hairs will fall out within one to two weeks after treatment.Q - What is laser hair removal?
