Pregnancy After Vaginal Cosmetic Surgery

Vaginal Cosmetic Surgery

Pregnancy after a Vaginal Rejuvenation is a concern for many women.  It is often suggested that the best time for a woman to consider a Vaginoplasty is after she has finished having children.  However, should a consecutive pregnancy occur, it will not be negatively affected by the procedure.

Vaginoplasty:  An invasive procedure designed to tighten the muscles of the vagina, and remove uncomfortable, loose vaginal tissue.  This will allow for more pleasurable intercourse, as well as improve normal activities that require vaginal muscle tone, such as retaining a tampon.

Labiaplasty:  A surgical procedure to reshape the Labia-Majora or the Labia-Minora.  Excess tissue is removed, and the area is reconstructed in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Vaginal Rejuvenation:  A combination of the Vaginoplasty and Labiaplasty, used as a total restoration of the muscle tone and aesthetic appearance of the vagina.

There is no medical reason for a woman to hold off on Vaginal Rejuvenation until after she has finished having children.  This is only recommended because another pregnancy and childbirth may reverse some of the results from the Vaginoplasty.  There is always a chance the tissue will be once again stretched, which may in turn make a repeat Vaginoplasty necessary to maintain the results.

If a patient has had a Vaginoplasty and decide to have another child, the procedure will have no affect on the pregnancy or childbirth.  The tissues will again stretch to accommodate the baby.  An episiotomy will more than likely be performed; this will allow the vaginal tissues to expand so the head and shoulders can be safely delivered through the birth canal.

Another worry is that the vaginal sensations will diminish after Vaginal Rejuvenation.  That is false, there is no decrease in vaginal sensations after a Labiaplasty or Vaginoplasty.  Women actually report an increase in feelings after surgery.  So feeling the need to push during childbirth will not be impaired.
