The best candidate for Sculptra treatment is a man or woman with a thin, narrow face which has begun to lose the firm, elastic appearance and volume of youth .The Sculptra injection is an in-office procedure that takes less than an hour to complete. A topical numbing agent is used and, depending on the area treated, this may be combined with a dental block. The Sculptra solution is injected beneath the skin with a thin needle.
As with any injectable, patients can expect some slight swelling and possible bruising after the Sculptra treatment. Work and other normal activities may be resumed immediately after treatment, though some patients choose to wait until the redness and swelling have subsided. More strenuous exercise and activities may be resumed within twenty-four to forty-eight hours. The results will appear gradually over a three to four month period after treatment and last for two years or longer. Patients will require approximately three to six treatments spaced one month apart.
