Q - What is vaginoplasty?
Vaginoplasty, sometimes referred to as vaginal tightening, is a plastic surgery procedure which tightens the internal muscles of the vagina. These muscles may become stretched through childbirth.

Q - Who is a candidate for vaginoplasty?
Women who feel that the vaginal canal is too loose may be good candidates for vaginoplasty.

Q - What should I expect during a consultation for vaginoplasty?
During the consultation for vaginoplasty, Dr. Vitenas will go over your complete medical history, take the time to understand your goals, and answer all of your questions. He will discuss reasonable and expected outcomes, and explain the details of the procedure including the technique, the recovery, the risks, the costs, and financing options.

Q - Where is the surgery for vaginoplasty performed?
Dr. Vitenas performs vaginoplasty procedures in his office operating suite and at the adjacent Day Surgery Center, an outpatient facility at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital.

Q - What type of anesthesia is used for vaginoplasty?
Vaginoplasty may be performed with general anesthesia or a combination of local anesthesia and sedation.

Q - How is vaginoplasty performed?
For the vaginoplasty procedure, an incision is made on the posterior (rear) floor of the vagina, after which a portion of the posterior vaginal wall is excised and the muscles are tightened.

Q - How long is the surgery for vaginoplasty?
The surgery for vaginoplasty is about one hour long.

Q - Is vaginoplasty a painful procedure?
After the vaginoplasty procedure, patients may feel a bit sore.

Q - How long is the recovery after vaginoplasty?
The recovery after vaginoplasty takes about one to two weeks.

Q - What is the recovery like after vaginoplasty?
Patients can expect a recovery of about one to two weeks after vaginoplasty. Some light bleeding may occur during the first day after surgery, and patients may feel a bit sore. Bruising and mild swelling may occur but usually fade within one to two days.

Q - When will I be able to return to work after my vaginoplasty procedure?
Patients are often able to return to work on the day after the vaginoplasty procedure.

Q - When will I be able to exercise after my vaginoplasty procedure?
Patients will need to postpone strenuous exercise and activities for about four to six weeks after the vaginoplasty procedure.

Q - What are the risks or possible complications of vaginoplasty?
The potential risks or complications associated with vaginoplasty may include bleeding, infection, and scarring.

Q - Is it possible to finance my vaginoplasty procedure?
