With 2017 just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about your beauty goals for the new year and what you’ll do to achieve them. Whether you have a single beauty goal or several, there are a number of plastic surgeries and procedures that will help you finally look the way you want to look in 2017 and beyond.
Beauty Goal: Lose Fat
Everyone’s got some fat. Some of us have more than we’d like, and that fat doesn’t seem to go away, no matter how much we exercise or how many salads we eat instead of pizza or burgers. Whether you’ve recently lost a fair amount of weight, have finally kissed the baby weight good bye or have long been at a healthy weight, you might still have some stubborn fat lingering.
If one of your beauty goals for the new year is to kiss that extra fat goodbye, for good, it’s worth considering liposuction. Liposuction is a surgical procedure specifically designed to remove extra, unwanted fat from the body. It’s not a weight loss surgery. Instead, it’s intended for people who are at or near their goal weight but who still have pockets of extra fat.
A plastic surgeon can perform liposuction on a wide range of body areas, from the tummy to the thighs and from the upper arms to the chin. Depending on your needs and goals, he can perform liposuction on several areas of the body at once, giving you an overall slimmer and more svelte shape without the need for a particularly lengthy downtime.
How long liposuction takes depends on how many areas you’re having treated and the size of those areas. If you’re having the surgery on a single, small area, it will usually take about an hour. The entire procedure can take up to four hours if you’re treating multiple areas or a larger area.
During the surgery, the surgeon removes fat from the treated areas, using a cannula and suction to vacuum it out. Since the fat is taken away immediately, you can usually see some change and subtle results right away. Full results are often visible after a few weeks, as your body heals. Wearing a compression garment during your recovery will help speed up results and help create the shape you want.
Since liposuction is surgery, it’s important to allow plenty of time for recovery. Many people need about a week for the initial recovery. After that first week, many are able to go back to work, but should still take it easy when it comes to working out or vigorous activities.
Beauty Goal: Get an Hourglass Shape
The hourglass figure is know for having a tiny waist, curvy buttocks and hips and full breasts. Although women come in a variety of shapes and sizes, the hourglass shape seems to be the shape many prefer.
If your goal for for 2017 is to finally get a curvier figure, you don’t have to settle for wearing a corset or waist trainer and for doing countless squats or planks. Surgery can help, particularly a Brazilian butt lift and a breast augmentation.
A Brazilian butt lift helps enhance the curves on the lower part of the body, by improving the shape and size of the buttocks. The surgery uses fat from your body to add volume to a flat or small backside. That means that to be a good candidate for the surgery, you should have a sufficient amount of unwanted fat somewhere on your body.
Once the extra fat is harvested from your body, it is cleaned before being injected into the buttocks. Recovery from the surgery takes about two weeks, during which time your surgeon will advise against sitting down, to keep the newly shaped buttocks from losing their shape and volume.
If you want to improve your shape all over, you might consider a breast augmentation at the same time or right after your butt lift. While a butt lift uses fat from your body, a breast augmetnation uses implants made from either silicone or saline to add volume to the breasts. Combined, the two surgeries can change your entire body shape.
Having the two surgeries performed together can help cut down on recovery time, as combining surgeries typically doesn’t extend the recovery process at all. You’re also likely to save money when you combine procedures, as you are paying for one surgical room, one surgeon and one course of anesthesia, instead of two.
Beauty Goal: Look Younger
While some people might want to change their body, others set beauty goals to help themselves look younger in the coming year. If your goals including taking a few years off of your appearance, plastic surgery can still help you.
The surgery that’s right for you depends on your specific beauty goals. For example, if you’ve begun to develop jowls and considerable skin laxity around the chin and lower cheeks, a facelift can take up to a decade off of your appearance.
Fat transfer, which, like a Brazilian butt lift, involves taking fat from one area of the body and injecting it elsewhere, can help restore volume to the face. A face with plump cheeks is often considered younger looking than a face with hollow, sunken cheeks. But as you get older, the face starts to lose volume from the cheek area.
Some people will look younger if they focus on correcting issues near the eyes or eyebrows. A heavy, droopy brow can be improved with a brow lift while an eyelid lift can help improve bags under your eyes and droopy, hooded upper eyelids.
