Dr. Vitenas’ Guide To Injectables

Wrinkles, hollow cheeks, fine lines, thinning lips, and the loss of overall volume and plumpness in the face are a natural part of the aging process. These visible signs of aging are hard to miss, especially when you look in the mirror.

However, there is some good news. While you can’t completely stop the aging process, injectable treatments can help you turn back the hands of time and regain some of your former youth.

Still, what exactly are injectables and how do they stack up against other types of anti-aging treatments? We’ll talk about the answers to these questions and the topic of injectables throughout this guide.

Injectable treatments can help you turn back the hands of time.

While it’s true that facial creams, anti-aging serums, and other at-home remedies can be helpful, these products can only do so much for your look. Invasive surgery is another option, but most people don’t have the time to go through the recovery process of a facial lift.

This is why injectables can be a great alternative option. Not only is this treatment effective, but it is highly versatile. From contouring to reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, there are many ways to use injectables.

Stay tuned as we go over all your options and talk about everything you need to know about injectables in this guide.

What Are Injectables?

Injectables are a type of chemical that is placed into the skin with a fine needle. This substance is used for aesthetic purposes and can help smooth out the skin and deal with many different signs of aging.

Uses of injectables include wrinkle reduction, facial contouring, and improved volume in various areas of the face. In addition, injectables can also be used on the hands and neck to further reduce aging.

For the best and most safe results, though, injectables should be administered by medical professionals. This includes plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and other trained medical personnel.

While this may seem like a simple procedure, placing injectables into the face and body takes expertise and skill. This is why we recommend getting your injectables done at our clinic. Our medical staff is trained to inject Botox and other fillers into your skin.

Most injectables are used as an anti-aging treatment, but not all injectables work the same. There are three main types of injectables that you should know about:

  • The most popular type of injectable is the Neuromodulator, also known as Botox. This type of injectable freezes up the muscles in the face to smooth the skin.
  • Dermal fillers are another popular injectable. Instead of freezing the face, though, this substance creates volume and can even help contour your facial profile. We’ll talk about this more in the next section of the post.
  • Finally, the last type of injectable is Kybella, this is a newer type of injectable that can help get rid of your double chin. This product will break down fat to make the face look more defined.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers can deal with wrinkles, creases, and lines.

Dermal fillers are a type of injectable that can be used in various ways. If you are looking for a truly versatile cosmetic treatment, then this could be an option to consider.

Botox, which we will talk about later on, is great for fine lines and wrinkles, but it can’t help reverse lost facial volume and definition.

On the other hand, dermal fillers can deal with wrinkles, creases, and lines while also adding volume to your lips and other regions of the face. This sets it apart from Botox and makes it perfect for people that want to enhance their natural beauty and look younger.

In most cases, dermal fillers will be used on the face. Lips are a popular location, but your jawline, eyes, chin, cheeks, and even nose can be injected with dermal filler. All of these facial regions start to sink in as you get older and restoring volume can make you look fresh-faced.

Which Popular Injectables Are Available At Our Clinic And What Are Their Uses?

1. Botox

Botox, one of the most well-known injectables, is used to temporarily reverse signs of aging. Botox is a type of neurotoxin which freezes the major muscles in the face. It is injected into the skin to reduce the signs of frown lines, crow’s feet, lipstick lines, and other wrinkles and creases.

Best of all, there is no recovery time required for Botox. You can have your treatment completed within thirty minutes.

The effects are not visible the day you get your injection. Typically, though, you can expect to see a reduction of age lines within five to seven days after your Botox treatment.

The only downside to Botox is its longevity. Botox only lasts up to three months, but with regular treatments, you can keep your face looking smooth and ageless.

 2. Juvederm

The next injectable we will be talking about is Juvederm. This dermal filler is used in all kinds of treatments and has anti-aging effects, as well.

As a gel injectable, it plumps up the lips, gets rid of wrinkles, contours the face, and restores facial volume. Unlike Botox, which only lasts for a matter of months, Juvederm and other dermal fillers are meant to have a much longer lifespan.

These long-lasting fillers can maintain their results for months and in some cases years and they are made from all-natural hyaluronic acid.

This smooth gel is also injected with a small needle and is a great alternative to Botox. It can be used on any skin type at any age.

3. Restylane

Restylane is similar to Juvederm; it’s another filler that is made from hyaluronic acid, and it can also fill in wrinkles, fine lines, and hollow areas of the face.

Specifically, though, Restylane is perfect for contouring the jawline. If you have a saggy or undefined jaw, consider using this injectable to contour your face.

4. Radiesse

The last injectable option we will talk about is Radiesse. Radiesse is made from a calcium gel base and is a smooth injectable that has some added features.

Unlike some of the other dermal fillers in this guide, Radiesse promotes collagen growth. So, not only does this injectable add facial volume and reduce wrinkles and lines; it can promote the development of healthy glowing skin.

Consider getting this treatment if you want to sculpt and fill in your cheek, jawline, eyes, and other sunken areas of the face.

Before & After Photos

Where Areas of The Face And Body Can Injectables Be Used On?

We’ve talked about how injectables can be used to reduce signs of aging and rejuvenate your look. But what specific areas do most people have injectables placed in, and how can you get the most out of your injectable experience?

Lips

Most people don’t realize it, but the lips tend to age faster than other parts of the face. You can notice signs of aging early on, this is because the soft tissue here becomes thin and loses volume quickly as we get older.

Drooping of the mouth is another common sign of age, combined with thin lips, this can make you look a lot older than you are. To remedy this we recommend getting a dermal filler injected into the lips. Botox can also be used if you have fine lines around the lips.

And, even if your lips are not showing signs of age, adding volume here can improve your overall look.

Cheeks

Typically, people want to eliminate fat from their bodies, but having fuller cheeks with fat is desirable as you age. With more volume on this part of your face, you will look more defined and youthful.

Dermal fillers are the best option for correcting hollow cheeks.

Dermal fillers are the best option for correcting hollow cheeks. It can even get rid of sagging and loose skin as the fat pockets in your face are refilled.

Forehead

The forehead is another popular place to administer injectables. Forehead wrinkles can appear early on in life, even as early as your 20’s!

Whether you frown a lot, wrinkle your forehead, or are exposed to a lot of UV, it’s easy to develop lines on your forehead.

Botox is the best option for forehead lines, and you can also prevent future wrinkles from forming as this injectable freezes your face! But dermal fillers can also be used for this purpose.

Chin and Jawline

In addition to improving facial volume in the cheeks, you can also use dermal fillers to make your jawline and chin more defined and contoured.

Age can cause your jaw and chin to develop a puffy and saggy look. Using a filler can help reshape your face and provide you with the look you want.

Contouring your jawline won’t completely transform your face, but this minor adjustment will make you look more elegant and youthful.

Nose

Finally, injectables don’t have to be used for anti-aging. If you want to reshape your nose without surgery, dermal fillers can be injected here.

You won’t get the same results as a Rhinoplasty, but placing dermal fillers in the nose can help get rid of unevenness, bumps, and make your nose look straight.

This is a newer way to use injectables, but this is a great treatment that will improve your nose without undergoing invasive plastic surgery

What Is The Recovery Time For Injectables?

Both dermal fillers and Botox have no recovery time. This is why both options are so sought after. You don’t have to worry about taking time off work or school, and the results can be seen within a week.

The procedure for both injectables is pain-free and easy. Side effects are also minimal and will only cause swelling and light bruising.

How Long Does An Injectable Treatment Take?

Dermal fillers do take longer to inject into the skin, but it only takes an hour to perform this type of treatment. So, you won’t have to make a huge time commitment.

Botox is a much quicker procedure. It can be done in thirty minutes or less!

How Can You Maintain The Results of Injectables?

The best way to maintain the results of your injectables is by regularly scheduling an appointment with our clinic. Dermal fillers and Botox do not last forever and need to be touched up.

However, injectables last for different amounts of time. For instance, if you get Botox, it will need to be injected every three months. In comparison, dermal fillers have a much longer lifespan.

Most dermal fillers have a lifespan of twelve to eighteen months, but some fillers can last up to five years. It just depends on which filler is used and where it is placed.

Regardless, maintaining these results should not be left up to chance. Keep in contact with your doctor and schedule an appointment if you notice any changes to your look.

How Effective Are The Results of Injectables?

If you are curious about the effectiveness of injectables you should schedule a consultation with our team. We can discuss the effects of dermal fillers and other types of injectables and set beauty goals with you.

In addition, we can also share before and after photos, this way you can see the results of our work for yourself. Typically, though, injectables do provide noticeable and pleasing results.

These products do not have the same long-lasting effects as surgery, but they will decrease signs of aging and help improve your looks if you want to upgrade your appearance.
