The fourth hour of the Today show is known to get a little crazy. The wine-loving duo, Kathie Lee and Hoda, recently dedicated a whole show to the nips and tucks of cosmetic surgery. They even volunteered to have a couple procedures themselves – on live TV!
Coming out in hospital gowns and surgical caps, Kathie Lee and Hoda explained today’s show – to give Americans the inside scoop on the cosmetic procedures they want. Three other patients had also volunteered to join Kathie Lee and Hoda, experiencing for themselves Cellulaze, spider vein removal, and Botox Cosmetic.
Kathie Lee immediately admitted she has been hooked on Botox Cosmetic since she was 40. She firmly believes in non-invasive procedures to achieve a natural looking result. For her live procedure, Kathie Lee decided on Ultherapy, a noninvasive procedure that lifts and tightens the face, brow line, and forehead. The Ultherapy device, a small handheld machine, uses mico-focused ultrasound waves to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin. Patients only feel a few minutes of heat, but will benefit from months of extended collagen release. Kathie Lee’s bottom line: Ultherapy provides the results of a facelift, without going under the knife.
Hoda, being of Egyptian heritage and prone to thick, dark body hair, knew exactly which procedure was going to be for her: laser hair removal. After the aesthetician shaved Hoda’s forearm, and went for the small machine, she nearly jumped out of her seat and yelled “I’m scared!!” Luckily her lovely aesthetician was kind and patient, starting up again. The hand held laser would focus small patches of green light on the skin, feeling like a blast of air, which was actually the laser causing damage to each hair follicle. In about 2 weeks, all of the hair will then fall out, and remain gone for about 6 weeks. Hoda’s take away on the procedure: any place you have hair, you can have laser hair removal!
