A woman’s body goes through a lot during pregnancy and birth.
Formerly firm areas of the body are stretched, other areas begin to sag, and others collect deposits of fat that can be difficult to get rid of.
Now there is a package of combined procedures to help women restore her more youthful figure after she has children. It is called the Mommy Makeover.
A Mommy Makeover Is a Package of Procedures
Over the last 10 years or so, the term Mommy Makeover has become ubiquitous in the various publications and websites that cover fashion and beauty. Like a body lift, it is not a single procedure, but a combination selected and performed based on the individual needs of that particular woman. It commonly includes some kind of breast augmentation or lift to restore the breasts after breast feeding.
This is then combined with a tummy tuck (also known as an abdominoplasty) or body lift to restore the figure after the stretching that occurs during pregnancy. Liposuction is often performed to remove any residual and excess fat deposits leftover in the body after giving birth. Finally, it may include an arm lift (brachioplasty) and some facial rejuvenation procedures.
The Package in Detail
It is always important to be evaluated by a knowledgeable surgeon who is experienced with the procedures that make up a Mommy Makeover. The cost of a Mommy Makeover starts at $10,000 and goes up to around $20,000. This total includes the fee for anesthesia, the facility, and the surgeon. The price varies depending on the procedures performed to achieve the desired results. We can provide a more accurate and detailed estimate if you upload your photos to our contact form.
Dr. Vitenas performs the procedures at Houston’s Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital and its affiliated outpatient facility, the Day Surgery Center. A Mommy Makeover takes from four to seven hours to complete and is performed under general anesthesia.
One to two weeks after a Mommy Makeover you should be able to return to work. There may be some bruising, swelling and discomfort. Medication will be prescribed to help manage any pain or discomfort. Exercise and other strenuous activities will need to be postponed for four to six weeks.
