It was a big year in cosmetic surgery. Some great products and services are finally available to everyone. Looking beautiful was never so easy! Unfortunately, not everything will give you the same bang for your buck. Here is a look at Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery’s Best and Worst List for 2013.
The Best in Cosmetic Techniques:
Voluma: Noninvasive procedures make our list every year. The newest player in the game is Juvederm’s Voluma, a Dermal Filler made from Hyaluronic Acid. Used to add volume and contour to the cheeks, Voluma restores a youthful appearance. The results are immediate, lasting up to two years.
Mommy Makeovers: What do Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé have in common? They both regained their pre-pregnancy body in only weeks. They proved that with a little assistance, every mom can erase the bulky, lax skin that arrives with baby. A Mommy Makeover is a combination Tummy Tuck and Breast Augmentation, trimming the figure and raising breasts.
The Legs: Our focus went down to the legs in 2013. Procedures geared to improve their look are still hot: slimming with Liposuction, Sclerotherapy to eliminate Spider Veins, and Laser Hair Removal to smooth the skin. Cosmetic surgeons can sculpt the legs, even their tone, and soften the skin. So ladies, get ready to show off those gorgeous, long limbs!
The Worst In Cosmetic Treatments:
The Vampire Facelift: Another cosmetic procedure made famous by Kim Kardashian. The Vampire Facelift takes patient’s own blood, separates it to isolate the platelets, then re-inject it into the face. Although billed as a way to increase healthy blood flow and collagen production, the Vampire Facelift falls short, providing nothing but pain.
Ulthera: This skin rejuvenating procedure had people excited early in 2013. Unfortunately, the Ultrasound treatment proved to be extremely painful, even after the skin is slathered with numbing cream. It is common for women to quit mid-procedure. The lifted tissue may look great, but other procedures provide similar results, with less trauma.
The Smile Lipt: South Korea is the reigning capital of cosmetic surgery; their procedures are often extreme. In 2013, they came up with the Smile Lipt: a permanent smile. The surgeon makes an incision through the muscles at the corners of the mouth, forming a creepy, constant grin. The Smile Lipt looks odd, and has a high risk for serious complications.
