Juvederm Voluma XC is a Hyaluronic Acid filler, designed to replace lost facial volume in the cheek area. A smooth injectable gel, Voluma XC provides patients with immediate results. A single treatment can restore a healthy, more youthful appearance. Juvederm Voluma XC is the only noninvasive alternative to Cheek Implants approved by the FDA.
As we age, fatty tissue and collagen are depleted from the face. This can cause lax skin and hallow, sunken cheeks. This, in turn, makes the face look frail and tired, as well as adding years to the overall appearance. The deterioration of facial structure will occur naturally with age, but it can also be triggered by illness, dramatic weight loss, and genetic disposition. Strategically placed in the cheek, Voluma XC is used to sculpt the cheeks, restoring a healthy and proportionate contour to the face.
A Juvederm Voluma XC treatment will take between 10 and 20 minutes to complete; the results can be seen instantly. Using a tiny needle, Dr. Vitenas administers the Dermal Filler in a predetermined manner, along the ridge of the cheekbone. Minimal discomfort is associated with a Voluma XC treatment; patients generally report feeling a pinch or pressure at the injection site. Lidocaine is mixed with Voluma XC, gently numbing the area with each injection. To increase a patient’s comfort level, Dr. Vitenas also utilizes a topical numbing cream before the treatment begins.
Patients are able to return to work or school immediately after receiving their Voluma XC injections. Some people prefer to take the afternoon off, to ice the treated area, but normally patients feel well enough to resume their normal activities. The injection site may be red and tender for a few days following a treatment. Mild bruising and swelling may also occur; these will generally resolve over the first one to two weeks. The results from Voluma XC injections can last for up to two years.
