Laser vein therapy is a treatment designed to eliminate superficial spider veins. During the procedure the laser delivers pulses of light energy over the spider vein which cause the blood in the vein to coagulate. This eventually disrupts the blood vessel and the blood is reabsorbed by your body. Over a period of several weeks, the treated vessels gradually fade. At the Mirror Mirror Beauty Boutique, we use only the safest and results oriented lasers available, the Cutera CoolGlide.
The best candidate for laser vein therapy is a man or woman with small spider veins or thread veins, both in the face or on the body. Laser vein therapy is an in-office procedure which typically takes thirty minutes or less to complete. It doesn’t require anesthesia & has minimal discomfort. Most patients require repeat treatments.
After the laser vein treatment, some swelling, redness, and bruising may occur, depending on the size of the veins. Typically it is not necessary to wear support hose after the treatment unless there are larger areas of veins that have been treated. Patients may return to work immediately after treatment, though individuals who sit at a desk all day should keep their feet elevated as much as possible. While walking is fine during the first week after treatment, more strenuous exercise and activities should be postponed and direct sun to treated area must be avoided as well.
Blood blister or cherry hemanigiomas respond very well to Laser Vein Therapy as well. Other vascular lesions, like red birthmarks and port wine stains, have also been treated successfully with this treatment as well.

Q – Where is the Laser Vein Therapy performed?

Anesthesia is not required for the laser vein treatment because the tip of the laser is refrigerated and it is used to pre and post cool the treated areas for comfort.
Q – What is the price of the Spider Vein Therapy?
Spider Vein Therapy depends on the size and amount of veins being treated. This procedure can range from $150 – $300.00 per treatment. Depending on the how many and the size of the veins will depend on how many treatments are needed.
Q – How is Laser Vein Therapy performed?
There are different theories as to how a laser works to target veins. What is clear is that the laser’s energy is attracted to chromophore, which in the case of dilated blood vessels, the hemoglobin within them. At certain wavelengths the energy is most absorbed by the chromophore at different depths in your skin. Because of the ability to change the way the energy is delivered with a Cutera Coolglide®, blood vessels of different sizes and colors can be targeted. As the energy is delivered to the blood (hemoglobin) within a blood vessel, the blood is rapidly coagulated and in the next few weeks to months your body clears the treated vessels and the coagulated blood within them.
Q – How long is the procedure time for Laser Vein Therapy?
Laser Vein Therapy usually takes 15-30 minutes per treatment depending on the amount of veins. Repeat treatments are often necessary.
Q – Is Laser Vein Therapy a painful procedure?
Because the pulses are very quick and the head of the laser is pre and post cooling the skin, there is minimal discomfort associated with Laser Vein Therapy. Most patients state that it feels like a quick pin poke.
Q – Is Laser Vein Therapy permanent?
Most treated veins will disappear after 1 to 2 treatments. The provider doing the treatment will see your blood vessels “blink” or change color which is a sign that you will likely have a very good result.
As time goes on, eventually you may have new spider veins come to the surface of your skin if you are prone to this condition. These can easily be treated with additional treatments.
Q -What are my alternatives for treatment of varicose and spider veins?
Bulging veins may require vein stripping surgery to remove the vein. Veins have valves in them every couple inches that prevent blood from following gravity. Bulging veins have “blown” valves that do not prevent the backflow of blood.
Sclerotherapy involves injections of a sclerosing (hardening) chemical. Like laser, your body must clear the blood vessel and its contents over time. Support horsey have not been proven to improve or prevent varicose and spider veins, although, they are a good idea and most doctors recommend them (and some wear them all day).
Q – What is the recovery like after Laser Vein Therapy?
Some swelling & redness may occur after the treatment. These side effects usually fade away within a minutes to a few hours. Bruising may occur in large clusters of veins that are treated. These side effects can take a few days to as much as two weeks to fade, and patients are required to wear support hose during this time. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. Sun and UV exposure should be avoided for 1-2 weeks post treatment to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.
Q – When will I be able to return to work after my Laser Vein Therapy?
Most patients can immediately return to work and other normal activities after treatment. However, patients who work out frequently must refrain from work outs, long walks, and being on their feet long periods of time for a minimum of 3 days. Tanning must be avoided 1 week prior and 1 week post treatment. No flying for this time period as well.
Q – When can I exercise after the procedure?
Walking short distances is fine. However more strenuous activities and exercise will need to be postponed for at least 3 days.

Q – Is it possible to finance my Vein Therapy procedure?
There are financing options available for plastic surgery procedures, including sclerotherapy.
