The Recovery Process After a Deep Plane Facelift
In the first 48 hours, it is normal to experience mild swelling, bruising, and a feeling of tightness around the treated areas. We will prescribe pain medications to minimize discomfort. Most patients can return home the same day.
In the first week, we advise our patients to keep their heads elevated while resting to reduce swelling. Moreover, strenuous activities, bending, and heavy lifting should be avoided. Dr. Vitenas will schedule your first follow-up visit to assess your progress or clean the incisions the next day. Sutures begin to be removed in 5-7 days and the balance are removed at two weeks.
From weeks two to four, swelling and bruising continue to fade. Light activities can be resumed, but avoid strenuous exercise. Dr. Vitenas will monitor your healing during follow-up visits. At this stage, you may begin using gentle skincare products.
One to three months after surgery, you will notice a more naturally lifted and smoother appearance as your face settles. You can return to your normal routine, including exercise. However, don’t forget to protect your skin from direct sun exposure.
Most patients see the final results of the procedure after six months. The swelling will resolve, and facial contours will be fully refined, giving a youthful and refreshed appearance.
At Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery, we specialize in advanced procedures within the field of facial plastic surgery in Houston, including the deep plane facelift, to help patients look naturally youthful and refreshed.
