Get Rid of the Excess Skin With Labiaplasty

10/08/2014 by Dr. Vitenas

The body changes after giving birth — sometimes those changes result inexcess vaginal skin. If this bothers you, there is a plastic surgery procedure out there that can rejuvenate the appearance of the vagina called labiaplasty, which is just means labia reduction.

If the appearance of your vagina has been bothering you since giving birth, getting labiaplasty doesn’t only restore your vagina, it can restore your confidence.

Since the procedure removes excess skin from the opening of the vagina, any woman who feels subconscious about her elongated labia can be an excellent candidate for this procedure. But if your internal vaginal muscles have also been stretched through childbirth, alongside having a labiaplasty performed, you can also have a vaginoplasty, which is a plastic surgery procedure that tightens loosened internal vaginal muscles.

About the Surgery and Recovery

A labiaplasty can be performed under local or general anesthesia. It takes about one hour. Incisions are made on the labia minora – the two, smaller folds between the labia majora. After this, the excess skin is removed. Although recovery from the labiaplasty takes only one to two weeks, more strenuous activity, like sexual intercourse, should be avoided for four to six weeks. The sutures that are used during the surgery are dissolvable, so, after the surgery, no stitches will need to be removed.

Around the labia and surrounding areas, there will be slight bruising and some swelling. For any discomfort, medicine will be provided to help with the pain.

Thinking About Everything This Procedure Can Offer?

Yes, the list is long, and it worth looking at:

  • Labia Surgery
  • Labiaplasty
  • Labia Minora Reduction
  • Excess Clitoral Hood Reduction
  • Labia Majora Reduction
  • Botched Labia Revision
  • Vaginal Rejuvenation
  • Vaginal Tightening
  • Labia Majora Convergence
  • Labia Majora Augmentation
  • Perineoplasty
  • Lateral Redundant Prepuce
  • Mons Pubis Reduction
  • Gaping Introitus
  • G-spot Injections

During the consultation, Dr. Vitenas and you will go over any of these options as well as your medical history. You’ll talk about anything and everything that you want out of the procedure. During the consultation, Dr. Vitenas will answer all of your questions, including technique, recovery, risks, costs and financing options.

The cost of labiaplasty does vary between patients: It depends on whether the procedure will be done at Dr. Vitenas’ office or the hospital — and of course by the complexity of the procedure (there are so many options). Labiaplasty ranges from $4,250 to $5,850 – but this does include the cost of an operating room, anesthesia, and surgeon’s fees as well as a post-op aftercare kit that will assist you in your recovery, making it more comfortable.

Dr. Vitenas has over 20 years of experience, and has been named one of Houston’s Top Doctors and America’s Top Plastic Surgeons.
