What Is A Breast Lift?

Our bodies are constantly changing, and it’s very common for women to notice that their breasts might not look as perky or full as they used to. Sometimes sagging or drooping can occur after a life event, like significant weight loss or the childrearing process. In other instances, these changes can just be a part of the natural aging process. In either case, Dr. Vitenas can help with a breast lift.

This surgical technique effectively lifts drooping breasts, improves sagging, and addresses any decrease in volume that may have occurred from age, gravity, or pregnancy. A breast lift can be performed with a breast augmentation, for patients who are interested in adding additional volume and upper pole fullness. If you’re interested in learning more about a breast lift in Houston with Dr. Vitenas, reach out to us to set up your consultation today.

Your Preoperative Consultation

Before your breast lift, you’ll visit our Houston office for a consultation, during which Dr. Vitenas will review your medical history and perform a physical exam. He will carefully explain your breast lift options, before showing a series of before-and-after photographs of his other happy breast lift patients in order for you to have realistic expectations of achievable results.

After learning all about your physical desires, Dr. Vitenas will determine if a breast lift is the right procedure to achieve the intended results. If so, the exact cost will be determined and a breast lift surgical plan will be created. At this point, you’ll be ready to start scheduling your appointments and looking forward to your results.

The Day of Your Breast Lift Surgery

Dr. Vitenas performs the breast lift procedure at the Houston Surgery Center, a fully accredited outpatient surgery center located in the same facility as his practice. The surgery generally takes between two and three hours to complete.

Dr. Vitenas will begin your breast lift by performing what’s known as an “inverted T” incision. This will circle the areola, run vertically down the breast, then across the crease. This incision will enable Dr. Vitenas to complete his work.

Excess, sagging tissue will be removed, and the nipple and areola will be elevated to a higher position. Finally, sutures will be placed and no drains are used. Once your procedure is complete, you’ll be moved to the recovery area, where you’ll rest comfortably.

Your Recovery Period

The recovery period after a breast lift is typically shorter than ten days. While there is only mild discomfort after a breast lift, Dr. Vitenas will provide you with pain medications for a peaceful recovery. Some swelling and bruising are common, and some numbness may also occur.

You will likely be required to wear a soft support bra for several weeks after surgery. Most women are back at work in only a few days. It is recommended that there be no strenuous exercise or activities for at least six weeks following your breast lift.
