Approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a safe and effective way to improve the shape and definition of the lips, Volbella® is an excellent choice for almost everyone. Juvéderm Volbella® is safe for men and women over 21, of all skin types and ethnicities.
Anyone with an allergy to lidocaine or gram-positive bacteria, with a history of scarring, as well as women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should avoid the treatment. Side effects are minor, and can include temporary redness, bruising, and itching.
Volbella® has a lower HA content than other fillers, meaning less swelling after treatment. More serious complications, such as excessive bleeding, infection, and nerve damage are rare, especially when under the care of an experienced injector like Dr. Vitenas.

Juvéderm Volbella® is a hyaluronic acid filler, created specifically to plump the lips, enhance lip borders, and smooth lip lines.
The ideal candidate for Volbella® will be over 21, in generally good health, and frustrated with the appearance of small, flat lips. Potential patients should understand the Volbella® treatment and have realistic expectations for their final results.
Dr. Vitenas performs all Volbella® injections in one of his private treatment rooms at Vitenas Cosmetic Surgery, located on the corner of Richmond Avenue and Drexel Avenue in Houston.
Juvederm Volbella® is not considered painful, although patients can expect a slight pinch during each injection. Premixed with a local anesthetic, lidocaine, the lips are lightly numbed with each Volbella® injection.
Topical anesthesia only is necessary for Volbella® injections. The lip filler is premixed with lidocaine for patient comfort.
A Volbella® session will take between 15 and 30 minutes to complete.
Patients can note immediate results from their Volbella injections. Over the next several months, as the HA gel holds in moisture and encourages the body’s collagen production, the lips will continue to look smooth and plump.
Volbella is a long-lasting lip filler. The results can be seen immediately and will last for up to a full year.
No downtime is required after injections with Juvederm Volbella®. Patients are free to resume their normal activities the same afternoon, including work, school, and exercise.
Volbella has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a safe and dependable method for plumping and contouring the lips. Pinpoint bleeding, bruising, and tenderness are common but will resolve quickly. More serious complications, such as nerve damage, infection, or asymmetry, are rare.
